The 2016 Tony Davis Ministries Humanitarian of The Year Award Every year Tony Davis Ministries selects three people globally to honor for their unselfish desire to help other people - families or communities through difficult and challenging times. This award represents an individual who places more value on helping others; be it providing food and clothing for the hungry or saving lives caught in disastrous situation. The Humanitarian Award is the acknowledgment of an unselfish individual willing to sacrifice their own time and resources in order to help others.
Sidney Taylor, an 19-year-old, from West Virginia whose current battle with Ehlers–Danlos Syndrome (EDS) can be told in stories of patients around the world. Sidney, who now has a permanent feeding tube, a bladder pacemaker, and daily medical challenges, still takes time to help other people through their personal challenges. Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome Type III is a genetic disease in which symptoms may be treated, but there is no known cure. In June 2016 West Virginia was hit with a disastrous storm that left 24 dead and over 3500 properties destroyed. This storm did not stop Sidney from going to church, delivering food to the hungry and helping other victim through the tumultuous times. In spite of her own conditions. She has committed herself to do God's work. Our Ministry does not discriminate based on religious affiliation, ethnicity or nationality. We offer hope and the potential for a life that transcends disease, poverty and despair. It’s all part of God’s plan that we bear each other’s burdens and act as His hands on earth.
